About Us

About Run for Ollie

In September 2016 tragedy struck our family. Our nephew, son, and grandson went to daycare and never came home. With the deep loss we all felt from losing our Oliver Ortiz, running became a healthy way to help his Uncle, Ryan, heal. From there he has run in numerous races, including 2 Abbott Races, NYC Marathon and Chicago Marathon(twice), has participated in Prarie Spirit runs and completed a 100 miler. When we decided we wanted to continue helping our communities as a way to heal, we created our “Running Series”.

It started out as a 5k Yearly event called “Run for Ollie”, that event has been ongoing from 2017-present day. Our newest Race in the series is something we are kicking off this year, 2025. Ollie’s Fall 10k will be held in November. Our last Race in the Series is “Ollie’s Ultra” which is a timed event on a certified 2.022 mile course in Chanute. With these 3 yearly events we are able to raise funds to support our goals in helping people and families in need. )
